					Bjarne Handmade in Denmark SOLD
A stunning handmade pipe from Denmark.
The shape follows the grain, mostly Flame Grain rising from the pointed base, flaring up the bowl and along the Shank. With Birdseye in relief around the rim of the bowl.
The stamp on the underside of the shank shows
BJARNE / HANDMADE IN DENMARK
The stamp on the mouthpiece is not easily distinguished but is quite clear to the camera.
The pipe is not only beautiful to look at, it feels great in the hand. And the condition is excellent – no dings and just a couple of spots.
Weight 40g
Inside bowl diameter 18mm
Inside bowl depth 39mm

Stanwell “Danske Club” Smooth Shape 64 SOLD
One of the range of pipe Stanwell made for a tobacco promotion pre-2000.
At that time all Stnwell pipes were made in Borup, Denmark and naturally stamped “Made in Denmark”
There is no shortage of hard wood in this pipe, in fact the dominance of hard wood interferes in places with the grain pattern which is a combination of straight grain and flaring flame grain on the bowl, continuing along the shank, and finishing with birdseye grain in relief around the rim.
The condition is excellent, just a slight darkening along the inner rim, very few dings, and no visible flaws.
Original mouthpiece stamped DC, with 9mm option. Use an adapter if you don’t use a filter.
Weight 56g
Inside bowl diameter 19mm
Inside bowl depth 46mm
Background:
Many years back, pre-2000, Stanwell agreed to supply a range of pipes to the company A & C Petersen for a tobacco promotion. To avoid confusion of brands, the pipes were not stamped Stanwell, just Danske Club.
We bought some of the pipes in 2018 when certain Stanwell shapes were not available. In our blog at the time Colin wrote: “These Danske Club pipes appear to have a little less hard wood, but we’ve imported them in the past and there is no shortfall in quality”.
Of course, at that time the pipes were “Made in Denmark” as stamped.

Stanwell “Danske Club” Vario Shape 64 SOLD
Just look at the grain on the smooth surface – almost straight grain, parallel lines from the base of the bowl, rising to form the relief birdseye pattern around the rim; and clearly visible in the smooth patch on the shank.
But don’t stop there.
Look at the incredible sandblast pattern on the other sides. Amazing and quite beautiful.
And Stanwell chose this pipe (or maybe the ebauchon) for a tobacco promotion – I wonder if they knew.
The pipe is in excellent condition, hardly smoked. No visible flaws, no dings, just a small tooth mark.
Original mouthpiece stamped DC, with 9mm option. Use an adapter if you don’t use a filter.
Weight 53g
Inside bowl diameter 18mm
Inside bowl depth 41mm

Stanwell de Luxe Smooth Shape 126 SOLD
Shape 126 is one of the stunning creations by Tom Eltang. A Danish take on a Horn shape. There is no definite line between bowl and shank, they seem to flow together. The look is emphasized by the two ridges running from the base of the bowl along the shank.
The grain follows the line of the bowl (or vice versa) so it is a beautiful flame grain, except for one area where it looks like wind has disturbed the flame.
The flame grain follows along the shank, and rises to a crown of plateau at the rim. The line of this shape fits exceptionally comfortably in the hand. Made in Denmark, the pipe is in excellent condition. The only sign that it has been smoked is a slight darkening of the plateau rim of the bowl.
Original mouthpiece. No filter option.

Stanwell Royal Briar Made in Denmark, Straight Grain Patent 969
What a phenomenal pipe. Almost perfect straight/flame grain with plenty of hard wood, carrying a Stanwell Patent stamp, and unsmoked!
Add to that the undeniable quality of Stanwell pipes, and the skill of their Designers and you have a genuine gem.
The sort of treasure one dreams of owning.
Thick walls to the pipe bowl, and the flared shape, make it comfortable to hold.
Yet it is relatively light, a bonus.
No filter system. Original mouthpiece with the crowned S logo. Made in Denmark.
