Peterson Sherlock Holmes Collection.
In 1987, Peterson released a special commemorative pipe to celebrate the 100th anniversary of ‘A Study in Scarlet’, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s first novel in the Sherlock Holmes universe, originally published November 1887. The Original Sherlock Holmes Collection of seven pipe shapes was then released between 1989 and 1991.
The pipes have large bowls and the signature Sterling silver band engraved with the detective’s silhouette.
One of the earliest actors to portray Sherlock Holmes was Basil Rathbone. His is the profile is used on the boxes and on the silver band.
Following the success of the original collection, Peterson launched in 1992-1997 a second series titled “The Return Of Sherlock Holmes”, featuring seven new models and an accompanying dedicated rack.

There are very few new Dark Smooth Sherlock Holmes pipes on offer on various websites. These three feature the P-lip, no filter option. They are all “new” pipes, never smoked, and they were manufactured some years back when the available briar was much better quality than the same priced pipes today.
