Description
Kapp & Peterson, Ireland
Charles Peterson started making pipes in Ireland in 1865. By 1898 he succeeded in producing what was then considered to be the perfect system in pipe construction – a built-in trap on the outside of the bowl strengthened by a metal band, and the smoke hole on the top of the mouthpiece (the Peterson lip). Although the P-lip was available on straight and half bent pipes, the full system was really only effective for full bent pipes.
The range encompasses pipes of all qualities, from “every day” through “Premier” to superb “De Luxe”, a full selection of shapes (with and without the P-lip). They did not confine themselves to system briars only, This time we have a good selection of other designs from Peterson. In contrast to their usual “stout, muscular” shapes, in 1945 Peterson introduced a range of 4 smaller bowled light elegant “Speciality” shapes. Two on offer here.
